State Institute for Rehabilitation Training and Research (SIRTAR), Gandhi Nagar, Rohtak is a government institute which has been established for education, training and rehabilitation in Disability and Special education. 

The institute has been established with the goal of training capable professionals that can be utilized in the arena of education, rehabilitation and empowerment of persons with disabilities. SIRTAR was set up in 2009, and operates under the guidance of the Government of Haryana with programmes recognised by the relevant authorities in rehabilitation education.

The institute has the philosophy that all people should have the same opportunity to learn and live independently. Its courses involve practical experience which enables students to learn the academic and human components of rehabilitation services. Professional ethics, caring, communication and practical knowledge are emphasized. 

Courses Offered 

SIRTAR has special programmes in rehabilitation and special education. Courses are intended for students interested in careers in education, psychology, rehabilitation and disability services.

Some of the major courses include:

  • B.Ed. Special Education
  • D.Ed. Special Education
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology (PGDRP)
  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Disability Studies is also offered.

The programmes provide students with an understanding of assessment, counselling, rehabilitation, inclusive education and behaviour management techniques.

Admission

SIRTAR's admission process is very easy and student friendly. Admission is based on the eligibility criteria outlined for each programme and if applicable, based on the university or regulatory guidelines.

1. Choose the Course:

Students first need to choose the programme they are suitable for and have career aspirations in.

2. Fill out the Application Form:

The application form can be filled as per the notification of admission released by the institute or the concerned admission authority.

3. Submit Required Documents:

The following are normally required:

  • 10th and 12th certificates
  • Graduation mark sheet (if applicable)
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Character Certificate
  • Migration Certificate (if necessary)
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)

4. Verification and Counseling:

Document Verification and Counselling may be conducted before final admission of candidates who are found eligible.

5. Fee Payment:

Once the seats are confirmed, the student is to complete the admission process by paying the prescribed fee.

SIRTAR aims at giving students hands-on experience, workshops, seminars and skill development programmes for taking up their professional career.

The faculty of State Institute for Rehabilitation Training and Research (SIRTAR), Gandhi Nagar, Rohtak comprises of experienced teachers and rehabilitation experts who are dedicated to impart quality education and hands-on guidance.
