The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) at Jamia Millia Islamia is designed for students who want to  become professional teachers. The program focuses on training the art of teaching, comprehending psychology of children and learning new ways of teaching in a classroom. Course Overview

According to the university and NCTE guidelines, the B.Ed. programme is normally a two-year course that is full time. The course is focused on  making the students learn about teaching strategies, lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessment. Such subjects as educational psychology, philosophy of education curriculum development, educational technology and inclusive education are studied by students.

The program includes classroom and practical training. Students participate in  lectures, workshops and seminars. They are also involved in teaching practice in schools whereby they observe classes, and teach under supervision. 

Students at this time are trained how to make lesson plans, teaching aids, control student behaviour and performance appraisal. Teachers feed them on a step by step basis and give feedback to enhance their performance.

Eligibility and Admission

In order to get admission to the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme, one has to be holding a Bachelor of degree (10+2+3 pattern) from a recognised university with at least 50% in marks (relaxation is also provided as per the university rules). According to Jamia Millia Islamia, admission is done on the basis of the university entrance examination and counselling process.
