Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a popular central university situated  in New Delhi, India. The university has various regular and distance learning  educational programmes. Distance learning is known as the Centre of Distance and Online Education (CDOE). It aims at giving high education to students who might not be in a position to attend normal college classes.

The CDOE has a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) programme that is available through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Learning (OL). With this course, students  get a degree in commerce in a simple way and make it easy to study at their own pace anytime and from anywhere.

What Is B.Com (ODL)?

B.Com (ODL) is a three-year on-distance undergraduate degree in commerce. Under normal circumstances, students complete it in three years. However, Jamia gives the option to complete  this programme in 6 years in case he or she is having issues.

The course is tailored to individuals, who have no time to enroll in regular classes because of work, family obligations, etc. but desire to have the recognised university degree. This programme does not have an entrance test. Rather, the admissions are made according to the minimum academic qualification.

Eligibility and Admission

To enroll in the B.Com ODL programme, candidates simply need to have completed 12th class (10+2) or an equivalent qualification, along with the required valid documents.. The students fill an online application according to the schedule of admission which is announced by the Centre of Distance and Online Education at the official website of Jamia Millia Islamia.

Learning and Study Materials

The university provides self-learning materials to the students. These things help students understand business subjects like accounting, finance, business organization, economics, taxes, and more. Others include counseling sessions or contact workshops, where the student meets with the teacher in person.

The students are also required to do assignments and submit them timely. They must take exams every year or according to Jamia's distant learning calendar in order to get grades and move on to the next year.

According to the official brochure of JMI, the B.Com ODL program fee is around 7,200 to 8,000 per year, plus extra fees for late assignments or exam forms.
